April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is one of the few female players of beach volleyball who have done so. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and will join the team in Tokyo. In addition, Ross hopes to win her very first Olympic gold. In fact, at 39, this could be her last opportunity to achieve it. Her optimism is that she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross stated via NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and if we just play well I'm sure we'll get the gold medal." It's also going to be an issue of luck. Ross, who was born 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began competing in the sports of Newport Harbor High school. The athletic pursuits she pursued continued at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of sports. When she was a student in the prep school she was a participant in the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball and track. However, she was a standout during this game. In her own biography, during high school she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setter (outside blocker). Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the National Player in 1999. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman might be working on a project in 2017, but Ross was an experienced player at the beach before they teamed up. Actually, Ross has won several significant tournaments during her time along with her two teammates. One is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through 2013. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships of 2009. The duo won silver at London's Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor won gold, beating them to it. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. The duo won the beach volleyball bronze in the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She played during high school, and even years prior to hitting the beach as a professional. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was impressive. As a freshman in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA The Freshman of the Year accolades. She also was an All-American. Also, she was one of the key players in helping the Trojans make the Final Four. Her heart was broken by a personal tragedy during her sophomore years, yet she managed to become an All-American in her second year. The last two years in the Trojans in the program they won success by winning two successive national titles. She had established herself as an all-time legend winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross studied the study of international relations in USC. Margie Ross wasn't able to witness her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross lost her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Her mother is still close to her heart. Margie remains a source of inspiration, both off and on of the shore.
