Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and a businesswoman. She's co-founder as well as CEO of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist and author, television personality and owner of the liberally independent online news magazine The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece and moved to England in the year 16. At Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA of Economics. In her 21st year, she was the president of the famed debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student who was elected to this position. After graduation she made her reputation as an independent syndicated columnist, and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched an online voice platform that offered critical observations regarding the current political situation. Her status as a celebrity helped to get a number of prominent contributors to post their views on news, politics and other topics. Arianna gained notoriety after she was elected independently in a recall election in California to succeed the governor at the time, Davis. In addition, she managed a Detroit initiative to encourage energy efficient vehicles. Forbes identified her as being the 12th-highest ranked woman within the field of media in 2009 and Guardian has also placed her on the Top 100 List of Media at the time. In 2011, AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her president of that media group which included many then-existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Parents were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant and journalist. While she enjoyed a strong connection to both her parents, it was their bond which shaped her. While in her formative years, she exhibited abilities to lead, and for this she remains well-known. At 16 years of age she relocating to the United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined The Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years, where she was the third and first female to serve as the president. She graduated in 1972 with her master's degree in Economics. She worked as a music critic, a TV host and as a columnist shortly after her graduation. The appearance she made in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy. She began writing books after obtaining his assistance to edit.
